Strip Down is a solo project from the British composer, producer and performer Ellie Gregory (1985). Coming from a classical background, the composer and cellist studied composition at Birmingham Conservatoire and graduated in 2009 with a portfolio full of both weird and wonderful notes, noises and ideas. They moved to Berlin shortly after and with available venues having changed from concert halls to clubs, used their contemporary perspective to concoct a recipe to make people dance. With the aim of stripping down resources to a bare minimum, the so named Strip Down project began LoFi, with one Kaossilator and one MINI KP, and the then completely unfamiliar language, French. With recent works in English and developing in complexity, Strip Down could now be described as electro pop or synthpop, however the core concept has remained the same, resulting in unforgettable bass lines, relentless beats and high energy performances that show an artist being released from theory into action, and most importantly, get the crowd moving.
